Mike founded The DREAM Program in 1999.
Mike is now a member of the DREAM Office in Boston and brings extensive experience in the nonprofit sector and community organizing, as well as a background in strategy consulting, educational research and political campaigns.
Most recently, Mike was a Senior Consultant with Wellspring Consulting’s Boston office, a strategy consulting firm focused on the social sector.
Mike has been the finance director and interim campaign manager for a candidate running for Governor in Vermont, and the Field Director for a Lt. Governor campaign. He took what he learned from the campaign trail and founded the Service Politics Institute – an innovative youth-focused civic skills training program, bringing youth, politicians and service providers together in direct service and policy discussions.
Mike was a research associate with Char Associates, an educational evaluation firm, and later with the Center for Reinventing Public Education (CRPE). He designed and co-authored studies on school choice, literacy and mentoring initiatives and developed a return on investment tool for the Denver Public School District.
Mike has taught mathematics and biology to Marshallese students on the island of Gugeegue in the Marshall Islands and has spent significant time in Latin America, traveling, learning Spanish, and studying youth development organizations.
Mike rides a motorcycle, attends Burning Man with his Mom and is always up for an adventure. He received his Masters in Public Administration with a dual focus in nonprofit management and international development from the Evans School, University of Washington, and his BA in Biology from Dartmouth College. He is a member of the Phi Alpha Alpha Honors Society for academic excellence.
