Full-Circle
Village Mentoring

DREAM uses a village mentoring model wherein mentees receive one on one mentoring with their paired mentor and also mentoring in a group aka "team" mentoring.

Village mentoring is like a community garden. Our youngest mentees have the chance to grow and help others grow just as much as our adult volunteers. Every DREAMer benefits from our shared programing and chances to grow together.

Some of our mentees even work their way through the program, eventually becoming mentors and DREAM staff! Shout out to Mona, one of our amazing full-circle DREAMers! <3

Guided Learning

Our Mentees learn from the example of our mentor role models and through our intentional curriculum.

Our mentors and mentees learn and grow together through exploration and adventures in the city and out in nature.

Exploration

Sharing Knowledge

Our mentees teach our mentors as much as they learn from them. Age is not

a prerequisite to be a teacher.

Mentor Pairing

Our mentees complete a survey on their favorite things and our mentors do the same. Our specially trained support team then pairs off our mentors and mentees based on their likes, dislikes, personalities, and backgrounds. Every few months we check in on our pairs to make sure mentees feel supported and that the match is the best possible option for both participants!

Village Mentoring Philosophy

M2 Philosophy

Throughout our lives we are mentors, those who provide guidance to others, and mentees, those who learn from and lean on others. Often we are in both roles. It is important for youth to learn when and why to shift between these two roles, and to explore how they can be and bring their authentic selves into their endeavors. Spending meaningful time with peers optimizes this experience.

The DREAM Program INC. is a 501(c)(3) service organization established in the winter of 1998 and developed as a nonprofit in 2001. Its goal is to bring high quality mentoring and activities to at-promise youth through summer enrichment, academic support, village mentoring, and unlimited adventures.
