Many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, and gender nonconforming youth experience heightened levels of psychological distress, bullying, conflict at home, and verbal and physical harassment. Mentoring relationships have the potential to serve an important role for LGBTQ+ youth, but research suggests these youth are currently underserved by the mentoring field. Learn how to create LGBTQ+ inclusive programming, build and sustain beneficial environments, identify gender and power dynamics, and support the identify of your mentee with a youth-centered approach.
