On Tuesday, April 20th at 8:00PM Winchester Place will be hosting Michael Ohler as a guest presenter. Michael is a the Associate Director of Resident Services at Champlain Housing Trust (CHT). Currently, he leads a team of housing social workers whose focus is to assist CHT residents with the challenges they face especially as it pertains to sustaining their housing. Before CHT he did similar work in the housing/homelessness social work field, with the Burlington Housing Authority and the Committee on Temporary Shelter. Michael has been teaching sociology and social work classes at Community College of Vermont and Saint Michael's College (and previously at Champlain College and Burlington College) for over 20 years. He earned a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UVM in 2011. The goal of this presentation is help us, as mentors, better understand the societal influences of poverty and the impact such issues may have on the families we serve.
