Supporting Children with Trauma

Presentation by Megan Fitzgerald

Megan is  a special education teacher in a therapeutic trauma attuned elementary classroom. She focuses on social emotional development in terms of self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making with her students. Megan has her B.S. in Special Education and is graduating in August with her M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism.

 

Her presentation will focus on identifying trauma responses, recognizing common triggers, and practicing de-escalation strategies that can be helpfulwhen working with mentees.

The DREAM Program INC. is a 501(c)(3) service organization established in the winter of 1998 and developed as a nonprofit in 2001. Its goal is to bring high quality mentoring and activity programing to at-promise youth through summer enrichment, academic support, village mentoring, and unlimited adventures.
