Our Impact

IMG_8963_edited.jpg

Our impact shows up in big moments and everyday ones. It’s in the mentor who still shows up years later. The DREAMer who starts believing college is within reach. The parent who sees their child feel confident and valued again. And yes, the numbers tell part of the story too.

Some DREAM relationships last a lifetime

Former mentees become college graduates, professionals, mentors, and community leaders. Mentors become lifelong friends, trusted adults, and familiar faces at graduations, weddings, and milestone moments. These stories are part of what makes DREAM, DREAM.

Through DREAM I got to see college life in a way that no campus tour can expose. I got to live a part of the life of a student. My time with DREAM made me realize how much fun it is to be living on a campus alongside other[s] who will join me in melding with the rest of the world. My mentors taught me that the most important thing in this world is not how you succeed as a student but how you succeed as a person, cooperating with those in the world around you. Without DREAM, I and others like me may never have learned what it means to live with others, instead of living among others.

Every young person enrolled in our Village Mentoring program automatically receives a DREAM Scholarship Fund (DSF) account. Over time, we contribute funds that can help support college and other post-secondary goals after high school graduation. It’s one more way we invest not just in who DREAMers are today, but in who they’re becoming.

Imagine what’s possible as DREAM grows

More communities are joining DREAM every year, which means more young people gaining mentors, new experiences, and support systems that grow with them over time. If you believe every young person deserves people who believe in them, there’s a place for you in this work.
